King Solomon: The Most Powerful Wizard of the 10th Century.

By Crystal Mayes

In my observation and study of the book, ‘The GoetiaThe Lesser Key of Solomon the King,’ written by Samuel Liddell Mac Gregor Mathers and Crowley, this book is a modern translation of the scrolls of King Solomon. It shares information of what Solomon practiced and how he used MAGIC to build the Temple of Jerusalem.

According to the Templars, (the Masons) who wrote this book, ‘high’ magic is classified or called ‘theurgia’ and ‘low’ magic is called ‘goetia’.  The Greek word ‘goetes’ means Wizard and Magus or Magi.”  Hence, “the preliminary definition of Magic says, “Magic is the highest , most absolute, and most divine knowledge of Natural Philosophy, advanced in its works and wonderful operations by a right understanding of the inward and occult virtue of things; so that true agents being applied to proper patients, strange and admirable effects will thereby be produced.” (Quoted from page 21 of ‘The Goetia – The Lesser Key of Solomon the King’.)

Yet, according to the Templars, ‘The Key of Solomon‘ or the scrolls of King Solomon “contain call the names, orders, and the and offices of all the Spirits (Jinn) that Solomon conversed with together with the Seals and character belonging to each Spirit and the manner [or Innvocation] of calling them forth to visibly appear.”  (See book, page 23).  Moreover, “the most sacred mysteries were revealed to Solomon.”

The five books or “Codices contained the names of Spirits or Angels, each has its’ own Seal in Four Altitudes and in 360 degrees of the Zodiac and in the degree of each sign and planet for each Astrological sign. These holy books were discovered in Chaldean (Hebrew tongue), by a Jewish Rabbi and was later translated into Greek, then Latin.”  (See page 26.)

From among these Codices a total of five books, “Solomon’s holy writings contained instructions and the meanings, as well as, the symbols of: (1) The Magical Circle, (2) The Triangle of Solomon, (3) The Hexagram, (4) The Pentagram of Solomon, (5) The Magic Ring (or Discs) of Solomon, (6) The Vessel of Brass, (7) The Secret Seal, (8) Washing and Bathing & Ritual Preparation, (9) Conjuration of the Spirits (Jinn), (10) Exorcism of the Spirits (11) Enochian Ritual/Chants (12) The 99 Names of God and the manifestations of each Name or Spirit, and (13) A detailed list of (Day) demons and (Night) demons in Astrological order.”  (See book pages 23-25.)

Below are illustrations of Solomon’s drawings and templates of the Seals. Note, in the Jewish Qabalah there are 72 Seals.  Orthodox Islam has a more correct number naming the 99 names of Allah, but the Jews use 72.

To close this chapter of Solomon we can see where Magic came from. It came from the servants of God.  Magic was given to them to do ritual and to help humanity to develop and create a better world.  Even Moses had a Magic Scepter and he used it to part the Red Sea.  The Prophets Elijah and Ezekiel also spoke to these Spirits and so did Daniel.  (Read your bible.)  Ezekiel saw the wheels. (Seals)

It is sad that man has corrupted this power and the true mysteries of God.  Had we as humans not been corrupted by money or greed we may have already created the perfect world.  Please feel free to post your views.  (Peace be unto you.)
